An Unofficial Red Dead Redemption Remaster Is Headed To PC

Rockstar Games hasn’t really responded to the outcry from fans who want to see a real remaster of the iconic Red Dead Redemption, but that hasn’t stopped the players dreaming.

The fanbase for the RDR series has only grown thanks to the launch of the insanely-successful Red Dead Redemption 2, which launched for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 late last year.

With no word from Rockstar about an official remaster or remake of Red Dead Redemption, gamers have taken the matter into their own hands, and have gotten to creating their own version of the game.

Entitled Red Dead Redemption: Damned Enhancement Project, the game completely reworks the original title from the ground up, and from what we’ve seen so far it’s looking seriously impressive.

The project’s official description reads: “Red Dead Redemption: Damned Enhancement Project is a direct modification of a Xenia/RPCS3 (X360) (PS3) versions of the game Red Dead Redemption, running on x64 Windows PC platforms with redefined graphical elements in high quality, including but not limited to: textures, UI/UX menu elements, in-game HUD, draw optimizations, shader and model updates, Alpha/Beta Stuff and many more.

“The target of the project is set out to remaster and optimize the game to run and look better, from within the Xenia/RPCS3 emulators ( ( on x64 Windows PC platforms and console level hardware, software compatibility support (e.g. Sony PlayStation 3, Xbox 360).”

Sadly, the only screenshots of the project that have been released are for the environments and not characters, but there is a trailer for the game which you can watch below [via DSOGaming].

Let’s hope Rockstar Games doesn’t quash this dream…
