Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla has a lot of vicious Viking weaponry. From gnarly-looking axes to ferocious flails, there are tons of options available. Yet, Ubisoft’s latest RPG completely lacks one-handed swords, which is somewhat weird.

Thanks to pressure from fans, Ubisoft has reflected on its decision to omit the staple weapon and plans to introduce it into Valhalla’s arsenal.

According to the game’s post-launch producer, Jose Araiza, one-handed swords are coming in a future Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla update [via PushSquare].

When asked about the game’s lack of one-handed swords by YouTuber JoRaptor, Azaria revealed that they are coming to the game in the future. The producer also stated that the development team doesn’t want the weapon type to be a mere reskin, which means the team is taking its time with creating the blades.

Valhalla has been out since November 2020, so many players have probably moved on from the game. However, its dedicated fanbase has still been beating the war drums when it comes to one-handed swords in the game.

When the news reached the Assassin’s Creed subreddit, fans applauded the decision, with the post reaching over 2000 upvotes. Fans have since shared their opinions and excitement on the post, with some players expressing frustration over the fact they’ve already completed the game.

If there’s one thing that’s clear from the AC subreddit, it’s that fans are eager to get their hands on one-handed swords.

Valhalla is also getting its first two expansions in April, in an adventure that takes players to Ireland for the first time in the series’ history.

Wrath Of The Druids will take Eivor to the Green Island. The second expansion, The Siege Of Paris, will take Ubisoft’s Viking warrior back to a familiar setting. It’s needless to say that fans will be eager to swing their new one-handed swords in both Ireland and France.
