With Baldur’s Gate 3 currently having a level 12 cap, its director has revealed it would not be “undoable” to raise in the future.
The Dungeons & Dragons inspired RPG has quickly become one of the most successful games of all time so it is perhaps no surprise that fans are calling out for more.
As it stands, players are able to reach level 12 before it caps. However, in standard D&D games, explorers are usually allowed to reach level 20.
However, this rule could be implemented for Larian Studios latest title in the future.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Level Cap Could Be Boosted
In a recent interview on the Dungeon & Dragons official Youtube channel, Baldur’s Gate 3 director Swen Vincke spoke about the possibility of DLCs which could also boost player levels.
Vincke stated that although an increased level cap would be “very hard,” it would not be “undoable.”
This topic was also discussed in an interview with PC Gamer in August.
“[Level 12-20] adventures require a different way of doing things, in terms of antagonists you’re going to have to deal with, which require a lot of development to do them properly,” Vincke said.
“You’d need different stakes, different environments, different protagonists, and antagonists but it’s not undoable.”
A Possible DLC
With the possibility of a level boost, this could also mean a DLC is in the works for BG3. Although this would be pretty low down in terms of priorities for Larian, they haven’t completely closed the door on the idea.
“Well, you could do different things in [the DLC] so it doesn’t have to be necessarily at the end of the game,” said Vincke. “There’s different ways that you can do that.”
This news comes alongside the director revealing that the team had now turned their attention to a brand new game.
