The problem with livechat in any game is that it gets pretty difficult to censor the onslaught of “your mum” jokes, racial slurs and general offensive behaviour, and although it’s sort of become the norm for any game where players can communicate with each other, it’s still a huge problem.
The people behind Battlefield 5 may have taken their chat filter a little too far though, censoring words that – honestly – are pretty hard to take offence at.
According to the r/LivestreamFail subreddit the chat bans the phrase “white man,” along with things like “Nazi” (bearing in mind the game is actually about Nazis), and “nuts” but not “balls.”
According to reddit, The chat filter in the battlefield beta blocks a lot of weird words.
– the word nazi. In a gam about killing nazis.
– the word “dlc” but NOT “free dlc.” Free has to come first.
– “White man”. Tho any other color of man is permitted.

Weird, right?
It gets even weirder as if you try and type “DLC” is banned, even though “Free DLC” isn’t. Oh, and Reddit is reporting that “Titanfall” is banned too. Lol.
Maybe they’re trying to tell us something here…
You can check out the full list of banned words discovered by Reddit users right here, but obviously it’s NSFW.
Have you encountered any weird word-bans in Battlefield 5?
The full game isn’t out just yet but Battlefield 5 will be launching on October 19, 2018 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. If you purchase the deluxe edition, you will be able to start playing Battlefield 5 three days earlier on October 16.
If you didn’t know already, Battlefield 5 is set during World War 2. It will be taking many of the elements from Battlefield 1 and expanding upon them massively.
What’s interesting is that DICE really want to let players explore the entire history of World War 2, as opposed to a few key events like shown in Battlefield 1 with the first world war, so there will be ongoing content drops throughout Battlefield 5’s life time with new content showcasing different periods of the war.
Have you tried the beta and will you be picking this title up?
