The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, where it’s noted that series creator Mike Judge is on board for the project, which will see two brand-new seasons of the show along with “additional spinoffs and specials.”

Judge will be writing, producing and providing the voiceover for both Beavis and Butt-Head, suggesting we’re in for the real deal with this unexpected comeback.

“It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again,” Judge said of the return.

“We are thrilled to be working with Mike Judge and the great team at 3 Arts again as we double down on adult animation at Comedy Central,” said Chris McCarthy of ViacomCBS.

“Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can’t wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own.”

“In this iteration, Beavis and Butt-head are entering a whole new Gen Z world,” Comedy Central added in a statement.

Beavis and Butt-Head is one of the most important animated shows of our time, playing a role in inspiring the wave of adult cartoons which now includes everything from South Park to Rick and Morty. Beginning on MTV, it’ll be interesting to see it thrive over on Comedy Central this time around.

The last episode aired back in 2011, and was from the show’s eighth season.

We don’t yet know when we can expect to see the show on our screens, but here’s hoping we won’t have to wait too long.
