Bethesda wants to release its sci-fi RPG Starfield this year, according to industry insider Jeff Grubb.

Very little has been revealed about Starfield, but it has gained a substantial amount of interest since its E3 unveiling.
Thanks to comments made by Jeff Grubb, there’s now a rumour circulating that Starfield could be released this year. The Gamesbeat journalist was quick to respond to speculation over his comments, clarifying that his statement was based on predictions and analysis [via Comicbook]:
“Can we not make it sound so certain. I gave a percentage. Here’s a better headline: Microsoft and Bethesda want to unveil Starfield this year, but people want lots of things,” he tweeted.
Rumours and speculation should always be taken with a pinch of salt. However, even the most reliable sources can only go by what they’ve heard, seen and/or being told.
The games industry is complex and things can change at a moment’s notice. From big projects being axed to whole studios being closed down, it’s hard to predict publishers and developers’ plans alike.

As for Starfield? Well, we’ll know when we know. While hearing about potential reveal and release dates can be exciting, it’s usually best to just wait for an official announcement. That being said, Starfield has been in the oven for a while now, so a release this year isn’t completely improbable.
Microsoft’s likely got reveal plans in place for Starfield, especially since Bethesda’s lineup is now a Game Pass selling point. Future Bethesda games are coming to Game Pass at launch, so we could well see Starfield launch first on the subscription platform. Microsoft has confirmed that it’ll uphold Bethesda’s previously established contracts, meaning that Starfield should also be coming to PS5.

Again, nothing has been officially announced yet. However, we’ll hopefully hear more about Starfield’s release in the coming months ahead.
