A brand-new BioShock teaser website has surfaced online, and it seems to suggest an announcement could be on the cards. A fourth BioShock game has already been confirmed to be in the works, and it looks like more details are on the way.
The website is called “There’s Always A Lighthouse,” which appears to be a reference to the final scene of BioShock Infinite (don’t worry, not spoilers here). At the time of writing, the website isn’t giving too much away, showing little more than a big star, an image which is saved under the name “staytuned.”
Hopefully that means we’ll be hearing – or even seeing – something sooner rather than later.
Earlier this year, a job listing for developer The Cloud Chamber seemed to hint at what we can expect from the fourth BioShock game.
The Cloud Chamber listing explained the company was looking for a designer “to help us build the next experience in the BioShock universe.”
It went on to state: “The Lead World Designer will coordinate cross-departmental development of the systemic game world. This includes providing editorial oversight on world layout, design of world content, and the detailed systems design of world population and event management.”
Interestingly, that specifically seems to hint at an open-world setting – something which we haven’t yet seen in the BioShock franchise. The reference to “world population” also suggests a pretty big number of NPCs, again adding fuel to the fire of an open-world BioShock.
Only time will tell what’s being cooked up behind the scenes, but we’re presumably looking at a next-gen title. Keep your eyes peeled!
For fans of the original games, they’ll be making their debut on the Nintendo Switch, which will see the BioShock Trilogy launching on the platform at the end of May.
