Box Dragon Is A New Studio Formed By Ex-Riot And Stunlock Devs

Two former Battlerite devs and one of Riot’s concept artists have banded together to form a brand new studio dubbed Box Dragon, according to Gamasutra.

Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Box Dragon currently comprises of three developers; Kevin Chang, Karl Bergström and Aleks Nikonov. Chang and Bergström both worked at Stunlock Studios prior to their new venture, while Nikonov was a senior character and environment concept artist at Riot. Now, the trio is using their collective 30 years of experience to make a brand new game, which just so happens to have the backing of Valheim publisher Coffee Stain.

As you’d expect, Box Dragon is looking to expand its team. In fact, there are currently six job openings listed on the studio’s website. While Box Dragon doesn’t explicitly reveal the kind of game it aims to make, it refers to itself as a “New PC Game Studio”. Sorry, console fans!

Whether or not that means the studio will stick strictly to PC games remains to be seen. However, it could mean we’re about to get something more experimental as a result. Again, very little has been revealed about the studio’s debut project. However, it is apparently a “semi-stylized lush post-apocalypse” experience. As for what that actually means? Well, we’ll have to wait and see!

Who knows, perhaps Box Dragon will eventually be welcomed into Embracer Group. Sure, not every studio needs to be part of a conglomerate. However, the fact that it already has the backing of Coffee Stain is somewhat interesting. Watch this space!
