A well-known leaker and Nintendo insider has taken to Twitter to talk about a big question that’s on everyone’s minds: when is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 releasing?
Twitter’s Sabi, who has accurately predicted a number of Nintendo releases in the past, surprised their followers by writing that the sequel to one of the biggest games in the history of Nintendo is expected to be releasing next year.
The leaker tweeted: “I would tell you Botw2 is planned to release in 2020, but Zelda release dates are historically delayed, internally or publicly LOL.”
They then followed up with: “This isn’t speculation, just current plans.”
If there is any truth to the idea of a 2020 release then colour me surprised. The game was only revealed to the world during the Nintendo Direct announcement from E3 2019, and since it was a pretty big secret until the worldwide reveal, it’s hard to imagine it was too far into development.
That being said, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the greatest (and most profitable) games that Nintendo has ever brought to market, so it makes sense for the company to try and release its sequel as soon as possible. Plus, Majora’s Mask was turned around in just a year, so there’s that.
Not too much is known about the sequel to Breath of the Wild as of yet. The E3 trailer shows a seemingly darker, much more intense look at the fallen world of Hyrule.

Here’s hoping a 2020 release is on the cards for a sequel to Breath of the Wild!
