Call of Duty 2020 has long been rumoured to be entitled “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” but it looks like we finally have some (alleged) evidence to back up the claims…from Doritos.
As spotted by fan site ModernWarzone and YouTuber and known CoD leakerĀ TheGamingRevolution, images which appear to show upcoming promotional packs of Doritos have leaked online, and they seem show off some previously-unknown details about the game.
In case you weren’t aware, Doritos and Activision often collaborate for CoD events, including things like 2XP bonuses, which is what is being shown in the unverified images.
The images have yet to be verified, so take them with a pinch of salt (or a scoop of salsa) for now.
As you can see in the snaps, the biggest thing we’re noticing is the name: Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. What we’re looking at here is thought to be the first official confirmation of the name, as well as its logo (again, Activision hasn’t confirmed this).
There’s also the very, very interesting small print shown in the images, which states that the Doritos x CoD promotion will kick off on October 5, 2020, suggesting the game is likely to be dropping that month. October as a release month seems pretty likely, as Call of Duty’s usual annual offerings tend to launch around that time. There’s also the upcoming release of the next-gen consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Series X, so moving the CoD release to be earlier rather than later makes a lot of sense.
The Doritos images look very compelling, so it’ll be interesting to see how this was pulled off if it turns out to be fake. Check out The Gaming Revolution’s video below.
