Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 cancelled main campaign details leak ahead of a fan-researched video launching next week.
Ahead of its launch, developers Treyarch announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have no single player campaign. This didn’t sit well with a lot of fans. After all, the Black Ops series has offered some of the best campaigns from the Call of Duty franchise.
Call of duty Black Ops 4 was a lacking release
Apparentely, Treyarch was unhappy with the campaign that it had created. Well, that’s what we were led to believe. However, when Black Ops 4 was released in 2018, it just so happened to be around the time when the battle royale fad really began to take off.
When Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launched, it had no proper main campaign. Instead, it was online focused with a Zombies campaign, traditional multiplayer and of course, a battle royale mode called “Blackout”.

Don’t get me wrong, the Black Ops 4 battle royale was fun. Unfortunately, unlike most battle royale games today, including Call of Duty: Warzone, the Blackout offering was behind a paywall. So, on the paywall factor alone, Blackout struggled to maintain numbers and the lack of a single player campaign certainly didn’t help either.
Months of research are behind the leak
However, while we may never know how good or bad the Black Ops 4 main campaign might have been, loads of details have leaked. The leaks were posted on the GamingLeaksAndRumours Reddit thread. Furthermore, the leaks are a result of “months of research and discussion” with those that had insight into the cancelled campaign.

Apparently, a traditional campaign was never in Treyarch’s plans. Instead, the cancelled campaign was to feature a mission-based 2v2 “race to the finish” which could also be played solo with AI taking over the absent player. If that was true, no wonder it was cancelled.
Furthermore, the campaign would be set in the year 2070 following a global pandemic and climate disaster dubbed the “Year of Chaos”. That all sounds a little close to home right now.
Two factions would also feature in the campaign, with players choosing who they would represent. One team was called “World United Nations” (a governing body) and the other was called “Free People’s Arm” (a combination of impoverished nations). Missions would also feature PvP as well as PvE

Moreover, each mission in the campaign is said to have been around 15 to 20 minutes long, with a winner and a loser determined at the end. The campaign was also said to feature multiple missions set across six large story locations.
CoD was scared of Red Dead Redemption 2
Unsurprisingly, the campaign was apparently plagued with bugs and technical issues and with the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 on the horizon, the decision was made to cancel the campaign.
An early build of the campaign was reportedly provided to Activision employees to play over a holiday break in 2017.
Next week, the individual that posted the leaks on Reddit called Purpletoaster20, is promising to release a 30-minute video that features the mode in question. Naturally, we must say that with all unconfirmed rumours and speculation, we should take these reports with a pinch of salt.
