Strap in for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War as the game is set to be one of the biggest – and flashiest – of the series thanks to the upcoming Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
It’s been revealed that Black Ops Cold War will run at a very impressive 4K resolution and 120fps on both PS5 and Xbox Series X, making it already one of the most exciting cross-gen titles to get on your radar.
The news comes from Venture Beat, where Treyarch co-studio head Dan Bunting, confirmed just how smoothly Black Ops Cold War is currently running on next-gen.
Bunting told the publication: “We want to make sure the framerate is responsive, and that it feels like there’s nothing on the technical side preventing you from having a good time.”
That makes Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War the second confirmed title to run at 120fps on PlayStation 5, the other being Dirt 5.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was finally revealed to the world earlier this week initially with a teaser trailer, followed by a full reveal trailer and then an additional cinematic shared during the opening night of gamescom 2020.
Black Ops Cold War will take place in the early 1980s during – you guessed it – the Cold War. The Cold War was a tense time in history when World War 3 was expected to happen at any moment, as two titans refused to play their hands when it came to their nuclear weapons. Nuclear war may not have happened in real life, but who knows what might happen in Call of Duty.
Unlike Black Ops 4, Cold War will have a single player campaign along with its multiplayer. You’ll be chasing down a mysterious character named Perseus, who’s set to change the course of history. The game has been confirmed to be a direct sequel to the very first Call of Duty Black Ops game.
Developer Treyarch (along with Raven) has promises a thrilling campaign with a lot of dark themes. As the teaser trailer told us: it’s time to Know Your History.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is due to release on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, along with Xbox Series X and PS5 on November 13 2020.
