Due to suspicious social media activity, some fans are believing that a Call of Duty Modern Warfare sequel announcement could be imminent.
Over the weekend, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Ghosts developer Infinity Ward blacked out its profile and banner images on Twitter. So, why do fans believe that an announcement is near?
Well, for starters as we’ve already mentioned, Infinity Ward is not only a prominent Call of Duty developer but also the developer of the Modern Warfare series. Infinity Ward also developed the Modern Warfare reboot in 2019.
Furthermore, last year, rumours began circulating the internet, hinting toward the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot receiving a sequel this year. Those reboot rumours have picked up steam in recent months.
Ghost, is that you?
However, as spotted by CharlieINTEL, when one of the blacked-out images was brightened up, if you look closely, you can just about make out the fan-favourite character, Ghost. In the brightened up image, Ghost’s iconic facemask can be seen.
Earlier this month, a mysterious countdown also appeared on the internet, which would conclude on April 30th. It is believed that this countdown might then announce a Call of Duty reveal set for May.
At this time, these are rumours, so we must take them with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. That being said, do you believe that Modern Warfare 2 will be the next Call of Duty game this year? Let us know on Twitter.
