Call of Duty Vanguard Guide: Best LMG Loadout

Who doesn’t love a bullet hose? Pull the trigger and let the bullets fly. LMGs are typically used to put down suppressive fire. They’re not known for their damage, so much as for intimidation and distraction. Hard to get a shot on your enemy when they’re raining bullets in your direction. LMG’s are a staple of first-person shooters, their inclusion in Call of Duty Vanguard was a foregone conclusion. It’s rare for them to be considered useful, rarer still to be considered meta. All that said, the MG42 in Call of Duty Vanguard is one of the most overpowered weapons in the game.

Big Gun, Big Bullets

The MG42 has a phenomenal rate of fire, this isn’t unusual among LMGs. Where LMGs fall down is in the damage and stability departments. An LMG like the MG42 can become seriously powerful any time we can mitigate these shortcomings. This is true pretty much across the board, in Call of Duty Vanguard and beyond. Why we focus on the MG42 as the best LMG in Call of Duty Vanguard is because when we apply these tenets to it, it becomes an absolute monster.

Making a Monster

Our first port of call is the barrel, the VDD 680mm 31M reigns in the recoil and makes the gun deadly accurate at medium range. With that, I would recommend the Mercury silencer and the G16 2.5x scope, the scope is personal preference but I feel it works well for the range of the gun. The Krausnick S91MG stock is really good here, it greatly reduces the horizontal recoil of the gun. This with the barrel attachment leaves you with a minimal vertical recoil that you can control with practice.

Underneath you want the Heavy Foregrip and the Fabric Grip to nail down that stability. The best proficiency for this weapon would be Tight Grip, it gives you increased accuracy when firing continuously, something LMGs like to do. For the kit, my recommendation is On-Hand for that increased ready speed after using any equipment.

Finally, we get on to what is often the game-changer for guns in Call of Duty Vanguard, the bullet options. Unlike most weapons, we’re not here to pick a particular bullet type. We don’t need to, the 13mm Anti-Material 125 Round Drum magazine covers that for us. This drum magazine gives a big boost to bullet velocity, penetration and damage. This takes the MG42 up to a 4-shot kill, in a gun that fires over a thousand rounds per minute. That’s what makes this gun a monster, and why we reckon it is Call of Duty Vanguard’s best LMG by far.
