Call of Duty Vanguard Guide: Best Shotgun Loadout

Shotguns? In Call of Duty? Are you mad? Unusual as it may seem, not only are we recommending a shotgun loadout for Call of Duty Vanguard, it might be the strongest weapon in the game. You take an instant kill shotgun, give it a quick reload magazine, and bump that range up to near infinity and you have easily one of the most busted weapons in the game. So here is our guide for the best shotgun loadout in Call of Duty Vanguard.

This is my Boomstick

Shotguns have a funny place in first-person shooters. In many games, they’re the best. Some of the most iconic FPS weapons of all time are shotguns. You often see retro shooters rated by “how good is the shotgun?”. Then there are games like Call of Duty, where the shotgun is present but not widely used. It could be argued that this is a more realistic interpretation; the shotgun is the weapon of a farmer, not a soldier. Still, shotguns will always hold a place near and dear to gaming’s heart. Thankfully, Call of Duty Vanguard seems to have embraced the shotgun. With its mix of long and very close range encounters, there are times in this game when the shotgun is perfect. What you might not know, is that one particular shotgun can be taken even further beyond. Let’s talk about Call of Duty Vanguard’s best shotgun loadout.

The Only Thing They’ll Fear Is You

Let’s take a look at the Combat Shotgun. Such an unassuming name, this is the first shotgun you get in Call of Duty Vanguard. It works as you would expect a shotgun to; get in close, pull the trigger, enemy turns into a pink mist. However, this gun has some seriously potent attachments that take it up to another level.

Starting at the business end, you’re going to want the M97 Full Choke muzzle attachment. This will reduce the pellet spread, which is always good in a shotgun but we need it to offset the downside of our next attachment. Next we want the Sawed-Off barrel, since we have mitigated the wider pellet spread with the choke, we get a reasonable spread with the added damage and movement speed that this barrel attachment provides. You can attach an optic if you’d like, not sure why, maybe you want a closer look at the smudge you’ve just turned your opponent into.

The Wire Custom stock is ideal for this build, providing more speed and hip-fire accuracy. For the grip, you could choose between Stipple Grip for better recoil recovery or Fabric Grip for better aim-down-sights a sprint-to-fire speed. Really up to you, if you can manage the recoil between shots then Fabric Grip would be best. For proficiency and kit, you want Vital and Quick. Vital, so more of your shots are critical hits, and Quick to keep you moving at a clip.

Finally we get to the ammo section, which is becoming a hotspot for turning regular guns into murder machines. This time is no different, Pack Powder shells increase damage range to ludicrous degrees. With this attachment equipped, your shots will be deadly far further than any shotgun has any right to be. Then, for what feels like just a luxury at this point, you have the 16 Gauge 10 Round Drum. With this, instead of manually loading in shell after shell, you get a large quantity drum clip that reloads like an assault rifle or SMG. With all this, the Combat Shotgun becomes severely powerful, and our pick for Call of Duty Vanguard’s best shotgun loadout.
