Top Tips For The Ultimate Win In Call Of Duty: Warzone Season Five

It feels like just yesterday that Call of Duty: Warzone came into our lives, but the free-to-play game’s fifth Season is now well underway. Like all good multiplayers, you need to keep up with the latest weapons, perks and modes to ensure that you’re on top of your game.

If you’re looking to be the best at Call of Duty: Warzone, here’s some top tips that’ll revolutionise your matches.

1. Plan Ahead

Warzone matches actually begin long before you hit the ground, as you’re able to identify a landing spot and parachute to your chosen destination. Make sure you take the time to plan out where you’re dropping, and take care as you do so to avoid an early death!

2. Get A Head Start

There’s actually a sneaky little trick you can use to your advantage here once you’ve dropped from the plane. As you probably know, opening your parachute will slow down your falling speed, while cutting it will plummet you straight down to the map. What you might not know, however, is that you can actually cut your cord to dive again, allowing you to re-open your ‘chute as many times as you like.

Opening your parachute and then cutting your cord will give you a little speed boost, and once the ‘chute is gone, your pistol is automatically drawn. Using this cut-and-run method, you can actually get the draw on your enemies who are still landing. Be quick with this one though, as your window of opportunity is very small!

3. Keep In The Know

Each and every Warzone update introduces a whole batch of new content to get stuck into. From weapons to playlists, there’s changes to Warzone every darn week, and if you see a shiny new weapon on the ground, it might not be worth swapping your current gun for. Make sure you’re keeping on top of the latest CoD updates either through Infinity Ward’s social media channels, or on the Infinity Ward and Activision blogs.

4. Understand Your Weapons

Understanding your weapons doesn’t mean you’ll need to listen to their problems over a nice dinner, it means knowing their strengths, their weaknesses and their best attachments. Some tiny tips for this category:

  • Don’t be fooled by all that glitters, as a gold weapon doesn’t mean it’s better than what you currently have, it just means that all of its available attachment slots are filled.
  • You can’t swap out the order of your two weapons (at least, you can’t at the time that I’m writing this). Get around this flaw by picking up a weapon on the ground and swapping it out until you have the desired order.
  • Almost all of Warzone’s weapons have four different damage stats depending on your accuracy (this is why a headshot will always do more damage than shooting someone in the leg, and why shooting someone in the stomach will also cause a different amount of damage). However, Assault Rifles only have two, not four: a headshot damage stat and a “rest of the body” stat. If you didn’t know that, now you do, so use it to your advantage!

5. Show Some Love To Your Squad

Warzone might be all about the shooting, but don’t neglect your squad as you could be relying on them sooner rather than later. If you’re matched with someone a little underpowered, share any spare equipment you might have to help give them a little more of an edge. Sharing is caring, especially when it comes to life and death in Warzone!

6. Hey Big Spender

There’s no benefit to hoarding your cash so make sure you’re spending as often as you’d like. Get your loadout sorted to your taste, customise your weapons and make sure to invest in things like Killstreaks and self-revives. Your kit can make the difference between a massive loss and a huge win, so now’s not the time to hoard your hard-earned cash.

Speaking of hard-earned cash, contracts are one of the best ways to bring home the bacon, so take the time to complete the different types of contracts you see on offer. Build up your monetary assets and then treat yo’self. You deserve it.

7. Know Your War Zones

There’s a lot happening in the world of Verdansk and knowing the map makes a huge difference. As the circle closes in, be wary of where you’re being herded to. Close quarters will require a faster, stronger weapon, but if you’re out in the open you might find a sniper rifle to be a much better choice. Keep track of your surroundings and pick up the best weapons for the environment you find yourself in.

8. Advanced UAVs: The Enemy Of Your Enemy Is Your Friend

One of the most useful tools in the Warzone, the UAV will allow you to tag your foes from the sky using a drone. They don’t come cheap, but boy are they handy, and you can even bump them up to Advanced thanks to a Killstreak, giving you more than just a little bit of an edge in combat.

An Advanced UAV will reveal all the enemies on the entire map, in real time. As you can imagine, this is a tool that’s almost definitely going to up the stakes, so make the investment if you should ever need it. This one is a co-op effort though, as your whole squad will each need to purchase and use three regular UAVs at the same time. Just like the Power Rangers’ Megazord, you’re more powerful when you work together.

9. Don’t Be Fooled By Gas Masks

It’s easy to get dependent on gas masks, because how can a gas mask be anything but helpful, right? Well, actually, there’s a downside to using a gas mask thanks to a glitch in the Matrix* (*and/or an animation bug). The animation shown when pulling a mask over your face is actually something of a shield, as players have discovered they can’t shoot their foes while it’s playing out. Towards the end of the game it’s easy to get caught in a showdown, and this second of invincibility could be used tactically to secure a win against you. Make sure you’re staying vigilant!

10. Learn From The Best

If you really want to master the art of Warzone then you need to keep your eyes on the pros. Scour Twitch and YouTube and keep your eyes on the loadouts, perks and attachments that your favourite gamers are opting for – you might find there’s a reason for that barrel or scope! Even Reddit and Twitter are great places to catch clips, chat with the CoD community and keep up to date with all the Warzone latest, so even when you’re not playing you can still be improving your game!
