The future of Call of Duty: Warzone has been teased by Activision, with many people wondering if the Verdansk map is about to be replaced with the game’s upcoming Season 4.
According to new leaks from Reddit moderator DougDagnabbit [via LADBible], that might be the case, as the user shared a video of never-before-seen gameplay which showed off an entirely new map. What’s particularly eyebrow-raising is that the map looks suspiciously like Urzikstan, a region found to the northwest of the game’s current map.
A tablet from the files labeled “Season 4” contains this video. We may have a new Warzone map soon, located in Urzikstan. from r/ModernWarzone
Known Call of Duty leaker (with a proven track record) TheGamingRevolution has taken to YouTube to debunk the theory of a new map coming in Season 4, though he claims a Cold War-era map is on the cards in the coming months.
In the video, which you can watch below, TGR shuts down theories that Urzikstan will take focus away from Verdansk, and says that the leaked Reddit footage isn’t from Warzone at all, but is instead from Modern Warfare’s Special Ops mode.
He goes on to hint that a new map, which will be Cold War-themed as the next 2020 CoD game is rumoured to be, will be coming by the end of the year. With CoD 2020 expected to drop anytime from October, it’s likely Warzone will have its map at a similar time – at least if these rumours are true.
As always, take leaks and rumours with a pinch of salt until we hear proof!
As for Season 4’s map, Infinity Ward’s narrative director, Taylor Kurosaki, has the following to say: “Players have already discovered that there is a whole other part of Verdansk they haven’t seen yet,
“They have found clues, and that there is more than meets the eye in this city. Season 4 will unravel some of those mysteries and unlock some of them for our players.”
