When it comes to spectacular cinema you don’t need to look any further than the Marvel movies. Although the MCU is about to take a huge turn with the upcoming release of Avengers: Endgame, it’s seeming like this isn’t a cash cow that anyone should be letting go of just yet.

Captain Marvel, the most recent release in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has just topped $1 billion in gross earnings worldwide, making it the seventh Marvel movie to join the billion dollar club.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Captain Marvel actor Brie Larson wrote: “Our girl Carol Danvers just joined the One Billion Club! Thank you endlessly for helping us cross this milestone. It has been a pleasure sharing this character with the world. I’ve loved seeing the cosplay, fan art and passionate words about our HERo. Higher Further Faster baby!”

It joins Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Avengers, Black Panther, Iron Man 3 and Captain America: Civil War as the highest-grossing movies in the MCU.
Variety writes that Captain Marvel has so far generated an eye-watering $358 million in North America alone, plus another $645 million overseas.

It’s also the 18th Disney movie to gross over a billion dollars at the box office.
Even if you’re not a fan of the Marvel movies, it’s still going to be interesting to see just how much Avengers: Endgame manages to rake in when it releases later this month.

It’s expected to absolutely obliterate existing records for both Disney and Marvel, and it might even become of the highest-grossing movies of all time.
Over on YouTube, the official Avengers: Endgame trailer has already seen close to 85 million views, so it’s going to be exciting to see how many of those viewers go on to hand over their hard-earned cash at the cinema.
