CD Projekt Red is confident that Cyberpunk 2077 will return to the PlayStation Store soon, telling the world that every patch “brings us closer to going back to the PSN store.”
During an investor call, CDPR’s SVP of business development, Michał Nowakowski, shared his hope that the game would return to Sony’s storefront soon [via Kotaku]:
“We have published several patches. We have just published a really big one yesterday and we have published several hotfixes.
“Each and every one of them brings us closer to going back to the PSN store. However, the final decision, you have to understand, belongs to Sony. We do believe we’re closer than further, but of course, the final call is theirs, so let’s wait and see.”
Cyberpunk 2077 was removed from the PlayStation Store back in December 2020 after the game suffered from performance issues. The situation caused both Sony and CDPR to issue refunds, with various other retailers and storefronts following suit.
The game has since received various patches, which have ultimately stabilised the game while bringing its experience closer to what was intended.
CD Projekt Red still has a long road ahead of it, but it seems like things are going in the right direction. While a handful of PC owners have reported performance dips after the Cyberpunk 1.2 update, the game seems to be more playable on consoles.
Getting the game to a playable state is a top priority for CDPR, which means that the game’s likely to seem a little less impressive initially. However, the game will likely evolve over the next year or so, which will hopefully bring it closer to the experience fans were sold back in 2020.
The game is still available physically, so players can still play the game on PlayStation consoles. However, there are players out there still waiting for the game’s return to the PlayStation Store with bated breath.
