CD Projekt Red Will Be Making More Witcher and Cyberpunk Games in the Future

The developers at CD Projekt Red certainly like to take their time to make games, with years in-between each release of The Witcher series and the same applies to the next game from the studio, Cyberpunk 2077 having a four year gap since the release of The Witcher 3 by the time it arrives April of next year.

So it’s safe to say that following the release of Cyberpunk 2077, we’ll be in for a long wait for their next title, but given the high standards that CD Projekt Red has set themselves, we’d have it no other way.  So for those that are patiently awaiting for when or what the next release will be, you’ll be comforted to know that there will be more Witcher and Cyberpunk games in the future.

Confirmed by a recent financial report by the CD Projekt Capital Group, it was confirmed that the development studio is moving towards a “dual-franchise model”, which in a nutshell, means that both the Witcher and Cyberpunk series will be developed in mind to have further sequels and quite possibly, expansions too.

The financial report detailed that “Managing two separate major franchises (The Witcher and Cyberpunk), along with several independent development teams, enables the Company to conduct parallel work on several projects and smoothens its long-term release schedule,”  It was also added that the “migration towards a dual-franchise model supported by several independent product lines also permits optimisation of manufacturing and financial activities, mitigates important risk factors and makes it easier for Company employees to seek professional fulfilment.

It may very well be years down the line, maybe over the next two generation of systems, but it’s certainly exciting to see what the future holds for CD Projekt Red.  Can you image how immersive and gorgeous a Witcher 4 will be?  I know that excites me, but do let us know what you think across our social media channels. Cyberpunk 2077 will release for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Google Stadia on April 16th, 2020 with the expectation that it may also release for next-gen systems.
