Chadwick Boseman Returns As T’Challa One More Time

Last year, we sadly lost the star of Marvel’s Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman, to colon cancer. However, thanks to the new Disney Plus series What if…?, fans will be able to enjoy the actor’s portrayal of T’Challa one last time.

Revealed on Thursday, the reveal trailer for What If…? features various characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, thanks to a previously provided voice-over, Boseman will also feature in the animation, reprising his role but in a slightly different way.

What exactly is “What If…?”? Well, it’s actually exactly what it says on the Tin. What If…? is a reimagining of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it, one that features some weird alternative takes. For example, instead of being apprehended by terrorists, Tony Stark is saved by Erik Killmonger. The show also features Captain Carter in place of Captain America and T’Challa filling in as Star-Lord. Pretty wild, right?

Hopefully, Boseman’s last recorded role stands as a tribute to the actor and testament to his talent. Earlier this year, the late actor won a Golden Globe for his performance in Netflix’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Boseman was also nominated for an Academy Award back in April for Best Actor. As an additional tribute to the Black Panther star, a street in the 2020 game, Spider-Man Miles Morales, was re-named “Boseman Way” [via IGN].

If you’re a fan of Marvel or Chadwick Boseman, you’ll definitely want to check out What If…? While Boseman’s role in the animation is sure to be bittersweet, at least we’ll get to hear the prolific actor work his magic one last time.
