That’s right, Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is a reimagining of the original Sega Classic. Featuring a new hand-drawn aesthetic and the option to play in classic 8-bit mode, this revitalised platformer is sure to appeal to fans old and new. Better still, the game’s release date has also been pushed forward from the 24th of June to the 22nd. Makes a change from the usual delays.

If you owned a Sega Master System back in the day, then you’ll probably have fond memories of Alex Kidd. However, it’s worth mentioning that Alex did hand the reigns of Sega mascot over to Sonic back in 1991. Therefore, you’d be forgiven for not being aware of this iconic monkey boy’s legacy. If that’s the case, here’s a back of the box synopsis for Alex Kidd in Miracle World to get you up to speed:

“Your name is Alex Kidd. You have courage, a karate chop that shatters rocks and a big job to do. You learn that the mysterious city of Radactian is in great danger. All your skills and talents are desperately needed to help. But there’s a catch. How do you get down there? Your only clues are a puzzling map and a medallion made of sunstone. Will that be enough to solve the riddle of the pathway? You face obstacles. Solve mysteries. Learn the secrets as you go along. But there’s high adventure around every corner. It takes a Kidd like you to handle a challenge like this.”

Hopefully, Alex Kidd’s grand return will place the mascot back into the limelight. While the boy wonder has featured in the likes of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, it’ll be nice to see the Kidd star in his own adventure once again.
