The Nintendo Switch has a bunch of impressive exclusive games releasing in 2022. From the highly-anticipated Pokemon Legends: Arceus, to more daring open-world adventures from Kirby and Sonic, there’s something for nearly everyone. But there’s one franchise that, whilst home to a passionate community of fans, hasn’t seen much attention from Nintendo in a number of years. Of course, we’re talking about Pikmin!
However, a new rumour is circulating on Twitter from leak group @LeakyPandy that could put an end to our Pikmin woes. They claim that a new Pikmin game is in the works at Next Level Games. Yes, that’s the Next Level Games group behind 2019’s Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon in 2013.
Remember, as with any rumour, take this with a pinch of salt until an official confirmation from Nintendo surfaces.
Since its original release on the Gamecube. Pikmin has seen two direct sequels, a popular mobile game and a port to Nintendo Switch in 2020. This rumour from @LeakyPandy comes after a claim from Pikmin creator Shigeru Miyamoto, who said that a fourth game was still in development.
After Next Level Games’ success of revitalising another GameCube classic, it would make sense that we would see a new Pikmin game from this studio bloom in the near future. Would you want to see a new Pikmin game on the Nintendo Switch? Let us know your thoughts on our social media channels.
