Bye bye!

‘Cyberprank 2069’ Has Been Removed From Steam

Cyberprank 2069, a parody game using a similar name and style to CD Projekt Red’s upcoming dystopian RPG Cyberpunk 2077 has been removed from Steam – but not for the reason you’d think.

Cyberprank 2069 is now no longer for sale via the Steam Store after the game’s “false description” raised cause for concern.

According to a Reddit user by the name of Victor2Delta, the game’s description used to state: “‘Thanks to everyone who bought this joke game before 07/22/2019. Each of you will receive your copy of Cyberpunk 2077 as a Christmas present. The funniest review will win collector’s edition.'”

Of course if you stick a description like this on your game, it’ll definitely appear as though you’re bribing people into both purchasing and reviewing the game – something that’s definitely against Steam’s policies.

Plus, it’s also DEFINITELY against Steam’s policies to promise purchasers something that you have no intention of delivering…unless this person really was going to ship a $50 –$60 game to each person who bought Cyberprank 2069 for its RRP of $10…

The same Reddit user also went on to add that the original game description was changed, with the most-recent description apparently reading: “THIS CHRISTMAS WILL BE BREATHTAKING. Blues of a metropolis of the future attracts strange people and madmen from all over the galaxy. Cyberprank 2069 is a sandbox game. True simulation of life in the world of the future.”

Unfortunately for the developer, it seems that the change of description was too little too late in Valve’s eyes, as the game is no longer available to buy.

If you bought the game don’t expect a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 to be landing on your doorstep anytime soon…

Still, here’s the trailer for CD Projekt Red’s title, which is due to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, April 16 2020.
