Cyberpunk 2077 is finally making its grand return to the PlayStation Store. However, the game is also getting an overhaul beforehand, thanks to an upcoming update.

Dubbed patch 1.23, the update addresses various general performance issues, as well “numerous crash fixes in animations, UI, scene, physics and gameplay systems”. While the Cyberpunk update doesn’t bring anything particularly exciting to the experience, it is notably large, coming in at around 30GB in size on consoles.
Previously, CD Projekt Red revealed that it was still waiting for Sony reapproval of Cyberpunk 2077. However, while the original statement appeared pessimistic, it seems like Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming overhaul has changed the game’s storefront situation.
Of course, while Cyberpunk’s update schedule has likely been planned in advance, its alignment with the game’s return to the PlayStation Store on June 21 is intriguing. According to a statement provided to Eurogamer by Sony, “users will continue to experience performance issues with the PS4 edition while CD Projekt Red continues to improve stability across all platforms.” Again, while CD Projekt Red is fixing Cyberpunk regardless of its storefront status, perhaps the update was enough to convince Sony to re-open its digital doors.

Hopefully, Cyberpunk 2077’s PlayStation Store return is a sign that the game is on the path to redemption. Who knows, perhaps Cyberpunk is about to get a second wind, in a similar fashion to the likes of No Man’s Sky.
