CD Projekt Red has revealed that playtests for Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will be available later this year.
It’s no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 has had a tumultuous few years since it launched back in 2020. With the launch being less than smooth and being met with mostly negative reviews, the action RPG has managed to turn itself around. As a result, the next chapter for the story will be dropping with the Phantom Liberty expansion.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Playtest Arriving This Summer
With the expansion set to launch sometime in 2024, some lucky people can get their hands on it with a playtest. This will be available for content creators and journalists who attend the Summer Games Fest this year. Additionally, Cyberpunk 2077 players will gain access later in the year.
This news was announced via the official Twitter account:
“At @summergamefest: Play Days, we’ll have hands-on sessions for press and content creators. We’re also planning plenty of hands-on opportunities for our community at a later date, so stay tuned!” The Tweet reads.
When asked to clarify what “opportunities for our community at a later date” entailed, CDPR replied, “our community will also get a chance to play the game before the release.”
Phantom Liberty
For those not up to date with the upcoming expansion, Phantom Liberty is the first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 and follows on in V’s escapades. Described as a “spy-thriller”, the expansion will feature espionage and survival amidst Night City.
Phantom Liberty will also see Idris Elba take on the role of Solomon Reed, an FIA Agent for the US. As V, team up with Reed and go against political plots and find out who you can actually rely on in this corrupt setting.
