If you’ve been after a brand spanking new RPG to play on PC, why not look no further than Gloomhaven?
Gloomhaven is based on the board game of the same name. It’s been available via Steam Early Access for the past two years, but today marks the day it comes out of beta and is available for a full release on PC.
Developer Flaming Fowl Studios says Early Access was the best way to develop the game:
“Without a doubt, the best thing about this approach is that we get to make the game alongside the community. We know that you all share our passion for Gloomhaven and we are excited to be able to develop this game together to make the best possible digital adaptation of Gloomhaven!”
WHAT IS GLOOMHAVEN?
It’s a tactical RPG and dungeon crawler where you recruit a group of mercenaries with unique abilities and attacks. Combining each character’s skills together creates a team dynamic that is strong against enemy forces. There’s online co-op too, along with other features that borrow heavily from the board game.
Overall, that creates a nice element of synergy between Gloomhaven and the tabletop format that came before it. I’ve played a bit of the game and it’s shaped up to be quite an intense experience, if a little brutal sometimes in terms of difficulty.
