Resident Evil 4 VR Is Missing A Ton Of Content From The Original

Resident Evil 4’s rather interesting VR version is arriving on Oculus Quest 2 later this week. But it seems as though a bunch of extra content from the original will be missing in this new port.

In a statement provided to IGN from Facebook, it was confirmed that Assignment Ada, Separate Ways, and The Mercenaries modes would not be available to play in Resident Evil 4 VR. Normally, these modes would become available after beating the game once.

It was not explained why these modes were cut. It’s possible that time and budget constraints didn’t allow for the modes to be included at the time of release. Capcom is, after all, letting Facebook and Oculus handle this version of the game.

Maybe some day?

While I’m not particularly fond of Assignment Ada or Separate Ways, it’s a big shame to see Mercenaries won’t be available. Hopefully Oculus could add these modes in later updates if the game proves to be a success.

For now though, it looks as if players will only be able to play through Leon’s main campaign in virtual reality. Resident Evil 4 VR releases tomorrow exclusively for the Oculus Quest 2. It won’t be appearing on other VR storefronts such as Steam or PSVR. It won’t even release on older Oculus headsets which is a bit weird.

Meanwhile, another statement given to UploadVR states that Resident Evil 4 VR “includes select changes to in-game dialogue and animations that we believe will update Resident Evil 4 for a modern audience.” This is mostly referring to several sexualised comments made towards Ashley.
