Sony has announced owners of Death Stranding on PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version this week for just £5! Now that’s a bargain!
When it was announced that Death Stranding: Director’s Cut would be coming to PS5, only the US upgrade cost was announced. That price was $10. Many of us assumed in the UK that our upgrade fee might be £10 or even £7-£8 (closer to the conversion rate). However, the PS4 to PS5 upgrade fee is even cheaper than we expected.
To upgrade Death Stranding from PS4 to PS5 costs just £5, which is an absolute bargain in my book. In most cases, upgrades might be free or £10. Some can cost in the region of £20-£30 such as Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut. Which to be fair, the new-gen upgrade cost for Ghost of Tsushima does include the Iki Island expansion and more.
£5 is a great deal!
Some might argue that the Death Stranding new-gen upgrade should be free, but let’s examine the value of the £5 fee. Not only does the new-gen version of Death Stranding include new missions, gameplay improvements, modes, and much more. But the £5 fee even upgrades you to the Digital Deluxe.

What if I own the physical copy of Death Stranding, will I still get the same upgrade?
Yes, you will. You will just need to insert your Death Stranding PS4 disc to download the new-gen upgrade and you will need to disc each time you play.
