Hideo Kojima’s post-Konami debut is right around the corner, and Death Stranding is looking, sounding and probably feeling about as weird as you can get.
The game, which stars the likes of Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Troy Baker and Guillermo Del Toro, is coming later this year, and a special edition PlayStation 4 Pro has just been announced in celebration.

First revealed during Sony’s State of Play, the special edition console features a white PS4 Pro emblazoned with the iconic black handprints associated with the game. The controller, which comes included, is modelled after BB – Death Stranding’s baby in a jar.
Of course, having a BB controller isn’t weird enough for Kojima, who took to Twitter after the announcement to confirm that BB will speak to the player THROUGH the controller.

“By setting, you’ll be able to have BB’s voice coming out from this BBish controller,” writes Kojima on Twitter.
It’s not clear whether BB will be able to ‘speak’ through all PS4 controllers or just the special edition one, but since I don’t have a spare $400, I hope it’s the latter.
Death Stranding’s official description reads: “In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the planet, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and the planet on the verge of a mass extinction, it’s up to Sam Bridges to journey across the ravaged wasteland and save mankind from impending annihilation.

“After the collapse of civilization, Sam Bridges must journey across a ravaged landscape crawling with otherworldly threats to save mankind from the brink of extinction. From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima comes an all-new, genre-defying experience for the PlayStation®4 system.”
Death Stranding launches on PlayStation 4, November 8 2019.
