Ever since the original Demon’s Souls by FromSoftware released for PS3 back in 2009 fans have been wondering: “what’s behind that door?” Well, thanks to the newly-released Demon’s Souls remake, the door mystery has finally been solved.
It’s a secret older than time itself (sort of) and for the past 11 years it was looking like that age old secret would never be answered.
However that has now changed because thanks to a speedrunner we now know what’s behind that secret door!
In truth there may have never been anything behind that door in the 2009 game, but now thanks to Bluepoint Games, the secret has now been revealed…
The Demon’s Souls door mystery was solved by speedrunner Distortion2 during a livestream, and they are believed to be the first person to ever reveal the secret [via GameInformer].
Distortion2 took to Twitter with the news, writing: “We solved the mystery of the hidden door! Thanks for making such a great secret to get all the community involved Bluepoint Games.
“Was awesome looking for the coins in SOTC Remake and again in Demon’s Souls Remake 😀.”
So what was behind that secret door? Well there was the Penetrator’s Armour set which belongs to the Penetrator boss in Demon’s Souls.
If anyone was wondering why Distortion2 referred to Bluepoint Games 2018 remake of Shadow of Colossus on PS4 (I know I sure was), it’s because clues were in that game that led to the Demon’s Souls remake.
In the Shadow of the Colossus remake, players would need to collect coins to unlock a secret door and there’s a similar process in the Demon’s Souls remake.
Players would have to collect what are called Ceramic Coins (which can be found in the mirror mode known as Fractured Mode), with a minimum of 26 coins needed.
Once you’ve done that, you must complete New Game+ several times over and then trade the coins to the Crow to acquire the Rusty key. This Rusty Key will then allow you to unlock the secret door.
