PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Epic Games haven’t always been on the best of terms, though it seems that a year has made all the difference in repairing their fractured friendship.
Just over a year ago PUBG Corp. took legal action against Epic Games in a case that suddenly – and quietly – was withdrawn just a few months later.

PUBG Corp. filed a copyright lawsuit against Epic Games back in January last year, with the hopes of determining whether or not their battle royale game was too similar in concept to Epic’s Fortnite.
At the time, vice president and executive producer Chang Han Kim said: “We are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known… We have also noticed that Epic Games references PUBG in the promotion of Fortnite to their community and in communications with the press. This was never discussed with us and we don’t feel that it’s right.”
The case was withdrawn in June.

However, it now looks as though the two companies have pushed aside their differences (or similarities, in this case), or at least they have according to PUBG Corp. studio director, Brian Corrigan.
In an interview with PCGamesN, Corrigan made it clear that the two companies have no issues with each other despite their past issues, even going so far as to brand Epic “one of PUBG’s best partners.”

Corrigan told the publication: “When [PUBG] first came out – years ago now, I guess – the idea was to just sell a copy of the game, and it’s going to be great, and that’s that,
“A lot of the season stuff has been our internal thinking evolving over time. People have this idea that there’s some animosity or something with Epic, but they’re one of our best partners, we talk to them all the time!”
Corrigan also brushed off the idea that the two battle royales are very similar in lots of ways.
Something almost definitely happened behind closed doors here…but what?
