Keanu Reeves is winning 2019 so far. From the amazingly successful John Wick 3 launching in cinemas, to the announcement of his role in Cyberpunk 2077, there’s never been a better time to be Keanu Reeves. There’s even a new John Wick game which launched earlier this month.
Still, we might have ended up with even more Keanu Reeves than that if Mortal Kombat co-creator had gotten his way.
The MK top dog and director of Mortal Kombat 11, Ed Boon, recently admitted [via Game Rant] that he would have loved to include both John Wick and Neo from the Matrix as DLC characters for the game, but sadly didn’t get his way.
Speaking to Brazilian publication Meu PS4, Boon said there were three characters he wanted in the game from its earlier stages of development: a Street Fighter character, John Wick, and Neo from The Matrix. Unfortunately, we don’t know what happened to the ideas, but maybe we’ll get to see some Keanu Reeves in MK 11 DLC in the future?
Ah well, we do have some pretty cool DLC characters in the game at the moment, including the one and only Terminator.
The Terminator’s character description reads: “The Terminator T-800 from ‘Terminator: Dark Fate is a cyborg assassin, sent back in time from a post-apocalyptic future. He is nearly indestructible and possesses superior technology, fighting skills and artificial intelligence making him the ultimate killing machine.”
The Terminator has joined the Joker in 11, though there’s still been wilder DLC characters available in previous MK titles.
Mortal Kombat X had a Xenomorph from the Aliens movies, as well as Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
The game will also be coming to Google Stadia when it launches in November.
