Disney+ Series “What If…?” Is Official Marvel Cinematic Universe Canon

The upcoming Disney+ series “What If…?” is official Marvel Cinematic Universe canon. The head writer of the series has confirmed.

As reported by IGN, head writer AC Bradley revealed that What If…? is part of the multiverse in the MCU which took centre stage in the hit Disney+ series, Loki.

The news of What If…? being part of the MCU might take some by surprise, considering that this is an animated series and not live-action. However, Bradley clarified that What If…? is in fact a member of the MCU.

Speaking to IGN, Bradley said: “The events of What If…? are canon. It’s part of the MCU multiverse. The multiverse is here. It is real, and it is absolutely fantastic, people.

Quite possibly the first hint of the MCU multiverse being referred to was in 2019s “Spider-Man: Far from Home” featuring Jake Gyllenhaal as the villainous Mysterio.

Then as previously mentioned, the multiverse played a huge role in the Loki series on Disney+. As the name suggests, the multiverse will also return in the upcoming “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, which is expected to release in 2022.

What If…? will tell the tale of alternative outcomes in the MCU. Such as Peggy Carter as Captain Britain or if Erik Killmonger became the true king of Wakanda.

What If…? will premiere next week on Disney+ from Wednesday, August 11th.
