Players of an indie game believe that Disney and Marvel copied the game for a fight scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
As reported by Kotaku, indie developer Stephen Ddungu says that their fans believe that the latest Doctor Strange film copied his game. If you haven’t heard of it, Sword of Symphony is an incredibly stylish, Kingdom Hearts-inspired action game with a focus on music. But now that Doctor Strange is out, fans of the game pointed out that one fight scene resembles his game.
Potential spoilers ahead for Doctor Strange!

According to those who have seen the film, there’s a fight scene in which Strange fights an alternate universe Strange using musical symbols. That alone isn’t much of a similarity. But fans say that the way the fight is carried out in the film, and how closely it resembles the combo videos Ddungu has shown off, is what’s suspicious.
And the film scene apparently also features musical queues that match up with the actio. Which Sword of Symphony also does. So fans on Twitter very quickly made a point of it to Ddungu.
what has ddungu said?
Speaking to Kotaku, Ddungu pointed out how the musical sequence was specifically shot during Doctor Strange reshoots. And these reshoots happened around three months after Sword of Symphony blew up online. “Based on a multitude of primary sources that support the notion they did, I’d say it’s ‘highly probable’ and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was true,” Ddungu said on the similarities.
Ddungu does say that he knows his idea of fighting with music isn’t a novel concept. He’s mostly just annoyed that, if his work was copied, that Marvel and director Sam Raimi didn’t execute the idea “in their own unique way.”
Of course, there’s likely no way to prove that this is the case unless someone at Marvel outright confirms it. So for those who aren’t taking a trip to the cinema, we’ll have to wait until it joins Disney+.
