DOOM Eternal is just a few weeks away from launch and the game’s creative director has revealed more about what we can expect from one of the first massive launches of 2020.
The game’s creative director Hugo Martin recently opened up about the length of the game, and it’s good news for fans of the franchise. We’d previously been told that DOOM Eternal could take “up to 22 hours” to complete, but now that seems to be the minimum of what we can expect.
Speaking to Gamespot, Martin announced that DOOM Eternal is “a 22-plus hour game.” Even more excitingly, the director also confirmed that the first three hours of Eternal are going to show off more than the entirety of DOOM 2016.
“The fun is mastering it, because that power fantasy, you’re going to earn that… the game is just going to let you put it on display. The third act of the game is just like, ‘Okay, let’s see how you do.’ It’s Bruce Lee walking into the dojo, just like, ‘I’m going to wreck 30 dudes,’ you know,'” said Martin.
The countdown to DOOM Eternal is officially on. The game’s description reads as follows: “As the DOOM Slayer, you return to find Earth has suffered a demonic invasion. Raze Hell and discover the Slayer’s origins and his enduring mission to rip and tear…until it is done.
“Experience the ultimate combination of speed and power as you battle your way across dimensions with the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat.
“Armed with a shoulder-mounted flamethrower, retractable wrist-mounted blade, upgraded guns and mods, and abilities like the Double Dash, you’re faster, stronger, and more versatile than ever.
“Take what you need from your enemies: Glory kill for extra health, incinerate for armor, and chainsaw demons to stock up on ammo to become the ultimate demon-slayer.”
Ahead of its launch, Bethesda and id Software are offering some pretty sweet pre-order bonuses, including a free digital download of DOOM 64 and a cosmetic set known as the Rip and Tear Pack. Find out more right here.
