Twitch streamer and professional gamer DrLupo has officially been named as one of TIME’s 25 Most Influential People on the internet.
The accolade comes not just from DrLupo’s massive success as a streamer, but also thanks to his huge and unmissable charity donations.
Just a few weeks ago, DrLupo – real name Benjamin Lupo – was named Content Creator of the Year by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The title was given in recognition of the record-breaking sum the streamer raised during St. Jude’s Play Live event, in which well-known streamers do what they do best to help raise money and awareness for the charity.
Lupo completed a four-hour Play Live stream which netted over $920,000 in aid of St. Jude Children’s Hospital, which is apparently “the most any streamer has raised in event history,” according to a St. Jude’s press release.
Back in December last year, Lupo also completed a 24-hour stream for the same charity, raising $600,000.
Over on his social media channels it’s clear that 32-year-old Lupo is more than touched with the nod from TIME, writing on Twitter: “Holy cr*p.”
Where MrBeast is known for his wealth and Ninja for controversy, DrLupo is fast becoming known as the Good Guy of Gaming, and we’re totally here for it.
It’s the fifth time that TIME has rounded up its most-influential people on the internet, though it’s important to note that “influential” doesn’t always mean “positive.”
On the list, TIME writes: “TIME evaluated contenders by looking at their global impact on social media and their overall ability to drive news.”
The list also contains names including controversial President of the United States Donald Trump, and Brian Kolfage, who crowd-funded the biggest sum ever in aid of building Trump’s infamous wall.
