The free new-gen update for the original Dying Light is now live for PlayStation 5. However, Xbox players will have to wait a little longer.
Announced October 2021, Techland revealed that there will be a free new-gen update for 2015’s Dying Light. Though to be honest, I totally forgot that this update was coming, so it’s a nice surprise.
The update will bring graphical and performance options for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Furthermore, the last-gen consoles will also be treated to an upgrade too. Fantastic!
How do I claim the free upgrade?
The upgrade will download via an update the next time you fire up Dying Light. That’s unless the update has already been downloaded while your console has been in rest mode. If so, job done!
What does the update bring?
PlayStation 5:
- Performance Mode: 1080p resolution at 60 FPS
- Balanced Mode: 1440p resolution at 60 FPS
- High Resolution Mode: 4K at 30 FPS
PlayStation 4 Pro:
- Improved 30 FPS cap
Techland has stated that the free new-gen upgrade will arrive for Xbox consoles in a few days. Hopefully, it will be live by the end of this week. When the update is live, players can look forward to:
Xbox Series X:
- Performance Mode: 1080p resolution at 60 FPS
- Balanced Mode: 1440p resolution at 60 FPS
- High Resolution Mode: 4K at 30 FPS
Xbox Series S and Xbox One:
- Performance Mode: 1080p resolution at 60 FPS
- High Resolution Mode: 1440p resolution at 30 FPS
