E3 2019: The Witcher 3 Confirmed For Nintendo Switch

During the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct (which totally won E3, by the way), it was confirmed that CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be ported to the Nintendo Switch.

Rumours of the release had been circulating for a while, but we finally got the confirmation we’ve all been waiting for.

Games like The Witcher 3, which showcase expansive open worlds and hundreds of quests, are absolutely perfect for a console like the Nintendo Switch, which allow you to play then on the go.

Over on Twitter, the official Nintendo account tweeted: “The acclaimed open world adventure and winner of over 250 Game of the Year awards, #TheWitcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, comes to #NintendoSwitch! Take your steel and silver swords anywhere you want when the game launches in 2019.”

Although the release date doesn’t get any more specific than “2019,” it’d be a smart move for the game to launch around the same time as Netflix’s The Witcher series.

Earlier this year, Deadline reported that Netflix has confirmed a late 2019 release for the show during an investor call.

During the call, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandso gave a release window of Q4 2019, meaning it’ll be hitting our screens anytime from October 2019. Which is great news. Hopefully.

Fans are tentatively holding their breath, hoping that the likes of Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Anya Cholotra and Adam Levy will be able to bring the beloved book and game characters to life, and give them the justice they deserve.

The show’s official premise reads: “Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

“But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.”
