Command & Conquer is a game series that will simply never die, and its dedicated and pretty hardcore fanbase has finally proven one thing to EA – they want, need and deserve a remake of the original 1995 title.
It looks like that dream might not be too far off in the distance, as a producer from EA has confirmed there’s a new C&C project in the works.
Posting on the r/CommandAndConquer subreddit, EA producer Jim Vessella writes: “Ten years ago I had the pleasure of being on the production team for Command & Conquer 3 and Red Alert 3, along with being the Lead Producer on Kane’s Wrath…
“Following the reveal of [new mobile game] Rivals, we heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community also wants to see the franchise return to PC. And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn’t agree more.
“With that in mind we’ve been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary.
“We are eager to hear your feedback to help influence our current thoughts for PC and what comes next. Over the next few weeks we’ll be talking to fans in a variety of ways. In the meantime, please share your thoughts here on the subreddit.”
Of course, people are pretty damn happy about the news, with one Redditer writing: “Wow, an actual confirmation. That’s actually really amazing that you could get that out of the way so early. As long as you guys stick to your guns and listen to the community, I think a remaster of one (or more) of the earlier titles would sell like gangbusters.”
Fans are now flocking to the subreddit to voice their opinions on a potential remaster, begging for “no microtransactions,””no esports” and “no lootboxes.”
