Elden Ring Is Delayed, But You Can Play It Sooner Than Expected

Elden Ring has been delayed by a month, but a Network Test means you can actually play it in November.

Earlier this week, 27 seconds of Elden Ring gameplay leaked onto the internet. It’s fairly non-descript, but does show off the gorgeous visuals of the epic open world. With only a few months left until the game is supposed to launch, fans are clamouring for any glimmer of new gameplay.

Well, you won’t have to wait much longer. Developer From Software is running a Network Test in November, which is sort of like a Beta. Players are able to sign up now on the Bandai Namco website for a chance to participate. It’s only running on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, though. Sorry, PC players!

If you are selected to take part in the Elden Ring Network Test, then you’ll only have a small window to participate. There are currently five sessions scheduled, all of which run for three hour windows between November 12th and November 15th. That’s probably wise on From Software’s front – they don’t want everyone to blast through the game before it comes out!

It’s not all Praise the Sunshine and roses

So, what’s the catch we alluded to in the headline? Elden Ring was supposed to launch in January. However, the team at From Software has announced that the game has been delayed by a month to February 25th. A tweet from the official Elden Ring Twitter account reads: ‘ELDEN RING will release on Feb 25, 2022, as the depth & strategic freedom of the game exceeded initial expectations. Thank you for your trust & patience.’

It’s not unusual for games to be delayed in this way. Game development has a lot of constantly moving goal posts, especially with big projects that pitch big new ideas. It’s obviously a shame that we’ll have to wait a little longer to get our hands on the finished product, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it. After all, when has From Software delivered a miss in the last decade? Don’t talk to me about Dark Souls 2…
