The latest patch for Elden Ring has been released, and amongst all the fixes and improvements, the Malenia fight is now even harder.

Update 1.04 has rebalanced a lot of melee weapons and spells to Elden Ring. Such as increasing the damage to the Grafted Blade Greatsword. Elsewhere the scaling status that affects build-up from spells and incantations for the Albinauric Staff and Dragon Communion Seal has been decreased.
Of course, FromSoftware has also fixed various reported bugs, as most patches would do. Speaking of which, the patch has also added additional event phases for the NPC “Patches.”
So, what of Malenia Blade of Miquella?
Well, it could be seen as bad news for Faith-builds, depending on your perspective on difficulty and challenge. For example, the incantation Swarm of Flies during the Malenia fight has received a hefty nerf.
The Swarm of Flies summons a swarm of Bloodflies which attacks any enemies that are nearby. If you have the right build, this spell can be spammed to beneficial effect. This spell has especially proved popular with players during the Malenia boss fight.
An Elden Ring player has stated that the Swarm of Flies can still stagger Melania, despite the nerf to the blood build-up. Some other players estimate that a three-second cooldown has been added, which means that the spell cannot build up additional bleed during its cooldown period.
Finally a good patch that buffs str-based weapons and most recovery times instead of needlessly nerfing mage/bleed tools to the ground ? Swarm of flies can still help stagger Malenia while watching out for Waterfowl Dance, despite the blood buildup nerf.
