Elder Scrolls Online Devs Are Working On An Unannounced IP

It has been revealed that ZeniMax Online Studios, the developer of The Elder Scrolls Online, is working on a “new, unannounced AAA IP”.

The news was announced on Twitter by new Senior Games Designer at ZeniMax Online Studios, Quentin Cobb, who has been recently hired by the studio.

I am happy to announce that I’ve joined ZeniMax One as a Sr. Designer working with my good friend Ben Jones on a new, unannounced AA IP! I’m thrilled this is finally happening and wanted to share a few details,” said Cobb in a tweet.

Clearly excited by his new employment and the unannounced project that he will be working on, Cobb went on to say: “I want to thank everyone at Zenimax for the incredibly warm welcome as I’m thrilled to join this team! This is easily the most excited I’ve ever been to work on a project since I joined the industry back in 2009.

Seeing as we don’t know what this “new, announced AAA IP” is at this time, let’s get speculating.

With this being a new IP it stands to reason that it won’t be related to existing Bethesda games like The Elder Scrolls or Fallout.

So will the unannounced project be a completely new name or will it be an outsourced license?  With ZeniMax already known for The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 it’s perhaps safe to assume that the new game might be an MMORPG of sorts.

However one thing that we do know is that considering Microsoft recently acquired Bethesda parent company ZeniMax in a $7.5 billion deal, it’s likely that this new IP will be exclusive to PC and Xbox.

I’d also take a guess that while we might not get any details this year, it’s possible that this project might be officially revealed at E3 next year, where Microsoft always has a big presence at the show.
