Epic Games Teases A New Fortnite Item And Fans Are Excited

Fortnite is known for its very frequent updates and patches, which add new modes, weapons and cosmetics every single week.

Usually we get a heads up on any upcoming content thanks to dataminers, who trawl through patch and update files on the hunt for any clues to what might be coming next.

This time however, the clues are coming from Epic Games itself, in a Reddit post that hints towards a VERY exciting new in-game item.

Epic’s community co-ordinater, Sean Hamilton, otherwise known as MrPopoTFS, wrote on the r/FortniteBR forum: “Are you a player on the go? Carry an escape plan in your back pocket with a new item making its way to Battle Royale!”

Of course the mysterious message seems to be pointing to one very specific (and very-much requested) item – the Grappling Hook.

Hamilton’s comment, along with a file name dug up by dataminers back in June suggest that yes – finally the Grappling Hook will be entering play.

Hooray!

It’s likely we’ll be seeing the new item – if it is the Grappling Hook – in the coming weeks as Season Six of Fortnite gets underway.

The next patch update for the game, Patch v5.30, is due Thursday 23rd August 2018.

Are you excited for the Grappling Hook, or is this an item you don’t want in your arsenal?

In other Fortnite news, Epic Games has announced they’ll be giving away $1.5m at PAX West.

‘Fortnite expert’ probably isn’t normally the most lucrative of professions unless you’re Ninja, but if you think your Fortnite skills could be better than the best then you could be in with a chance at the prize.

The competition is open to anyone who’s attending PAX West, meaning if you’re there you have a chance to compete for the prize money.

PAX West 2018 is located in Seattle, with the Epic Games competitions running from Friday 31st August to Monday 3rd September.
