Meet the Exhausted Man – a tired, bendy fellow who refuses to sleep. We are all him now. This weird and poignant game is the perfect burnt-out sim.
While the sweet and industrious Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the perfect game for the beginning of 2020 and the start of the pandemic, Exhausted Man is the sleepy sim that perfectly expresses how we’re all feeling now.

In Exhausted Man, you must pilot your worm-like character through a twilight apartment as they flail around trying to complete everyday tasks. Throughout it all you must remain lying down, sending the clutter of your cosy apartment everywhere.
The physics are slightly off, creating a dreamlike sensation of insomnia. Yet Exhausted Man’s warm, cute visuals and gentle soundtrack keep the game from seeming too dark. You can watch the trailer here:
It’s made by Candleman Games, which also developed and published Candleman. Released in 2018, this game sees you play as a little candlestick. You must travel through the darkness, only able to light yourself for ten seconds at a time. It got a ‘very positive’ rating on Steam, and has a similar twilight, surreal vibe to Exhausted Man.
You can play a demo of the game on Steam now. Sadly the release date is not yet definite – but you can add it to your wish list to keep on top of updates. At the moment it seems that Exhausted Man is a PC only game, but it’s already chiming with gamers all over the world.
