After being in development for around seven years, the biggest-ever mod for Fallout: New Vegas is about to release.
Fallout: New Vegas released back in 2010 and it was the last game in the series developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Many believe that this is the best ever instalment of the beloved RPG series from Bethesda.
However I’m not going to look through tinted rose glasses, because if I remember correctly Fallout: New Vegas released in a very buggy state and if it had released today, it would have gotten torn apart.
I love the Fallout series but New Vegas is a game that I had never finished. I had pumped a silly amount of hours into this game and I had lost all my game progression, twice!
However around 11 years has passed since the troubled launch of Fallout: New Vegas, and by all accounts it’s a much better game, largely down to the incredible modding community.
This week we will finally get the release of The Frontier, a huge mod that, by the sounds of it, could quite easily be its own standalone game.
Not only has this mod made Fallout: New Vegas a far more stable experience, but it even introduces improved textures and lighting, plus it features HDR support.
However that’s not all because weather mechanics have also been implemented with fog, blizzards, thunder and more. Heck you can even drive vehicles in the game, and from what I hear, it also includes aerial dogfighting!
There’s also new weapons, enemies, lines of dialogue and proper cutscenes, the latter of which did not feature in the original Fallout: New Vegas.
In terms of meaty content, The Frontier will also bring in three new major questlines for the Legion, New California Republic and the Crusaders of Steel. We’ll even be getting more than 50 new side-quests to enjoy.
Yet all of the above isn’t even the best thing about The Frontier mod, because the best thing of all is that it’s totally free! All you need is a copy of Fallout: New Vegas on PC and all the DLC.
