Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been an absolute treat since it first arrived on the 20 March. Personally, I’m already 70 hours in despite having to work alongside the release, so it’s definitely helped out with my self-isolation boredom.

If you’ve been playing the game as religiously as myself and the GameByte team, then you’ll agree that one of the new additions to the AC series is also one of its most annoying, and that comes in the form of wasps, scorpions and tarantulas.
Yes, each one of these critters scores you a hefty payout at Nook’s Cranny – but more often than not, despite best efforts, they’re a lot more skilled at causing you to faint than you are at catching them. So what do we do when things get tough? We strive in the face of adversity, and players have found a new way of getting one over on the bugs once and for all. Better yet, it’s actually pretty cost efficient and definitely gets the job done.

Twitter user LuuLubuu posted a video showing the ingenius use of party poppers to ‘blast’ away the wasps, and I can’t believe I didn’t think of it myself. The hilarious post has already garnered a lot of respect from fellow players, who quite frankly are just happier at being able to avoid heading back to their DIY workbench to make medicine every hour.
Obviously, this won’t go down very well if you’re an animal rights activist – death by party popper isn’t exactly the most wholesome way of dealing with your pests.

But sometimes, needs must and quite frankly I’d rather blast my wasps into oblivion than have Iggly ask me what’s up with my face every time he bumps into me on the plaza.
