PewDiePie is about to hit his ninth year on YouTube, and his fans are pulling out all the stops to honour the occasion.
In light of the recent subscriber war with Indian corporation T-Series, a GoFundMe page has been set up to fly a “Thank You PewDiePie” banner across New York City.

The page, which has raised over $3,000 and is fully funded, says: “29th April marks a special day to our community a significant milestone of positivity after a slew of negativity in March. Pewdiepie’s channel turns 9 and we intend to celebrate it.
“In conjunction to the events proposed on the subreddit regarding International Pewdiepie Day. We, the members of the 9 Year Old Special Unit Discord are establishing this fundraiser, to fly a plane with a ‘Thank You Pewdiepie’ banner to kickstart this international movement in New York City from Noon-1p.m on the 29th of April.

“This event is done to celebrate 9 years of happiness and fun Pewdiepie has brought to us and to potentially help to kickstart a new wave of energy to Pewdiepie’s march to 100 million. Join us and celebrate 9 years of Pewdiepie by donating here so we can fly his banner across the Hudson River in New York.”
Speaking exclusively to GameByte, event co-ordinator and one of the sponsors, Nyani said: ” The idea was initially conceptualized by ChrisY, a university student in Sydney who felt the fans needed to step up and be more pro-active in keeping PewDiePie on trending with stunts during the battle against T-Series.
“ChrisY recruited me to help with the project and i took over the design of the plan, scouting out an aerial advertising agency and coordinating the effort along with our fundraiser (Delta) a student in USA.
“There is something special about this event, it feels like an adventure of our youth, perhaps a chance to be part of something bigger that we might never have in the future.
“A big part of this fundraiser and event that is unique to us is the fact that this has been wholly funded by PewDiePie fans to celebrate him. It’s not supported by any influencer and was funded from our own advertising and marketing ranging from subreddit mods and large discord admins. It’s truly amazing how the community has made this possible. I’m glad to be part of it and I truly hope the event will be pulled off successfully!”

Plans for the celebration are still in the works, but you can check out the GoFundMe page right here.
If this is what the fans are cooking up, we can’t wait to see what MrBeast has planned…
