Last month at Sony’s State of Play, one of the few highlights of the show was with the announcement of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. Intergrade is an upgraded port of FF7 Remake coming to PlayStation 5.

Along with the announcement of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade was the additional reveal that this PS5 exclusive version would be getting some DLC. PS5 owners will be treated to a brand new episode starring beloved series character, Yuffie.

When speaking to Famitsu [via VGC], Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Tetsuya Nomura stated that Square Enix currently has no plans to release further DLC for the remake beyond Intergrade’s Yuffie episode.

Outside of the Yuffie episode, his and Square Enix’s priority is the development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2.

Due to the nature of the upgrade system, it resulted in us having to label the new Yuffie sections as ‘DLC’. However, the original intent was to create a PS5 version of FF7 Remake and not to produce DLC. Accordingly, we do not have any plans for DLC at this time,” said Nomura.

However, Nomura didn’t rule out further DLC once the development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 is finished.

We are now prioritizing the roadmap for completing the next game, so if we do need to think about more DLC then it will probably come after that is finished,” Nomura said.

The developer also spoke of the benefits of porting Final Fantasy 7 Remake from PS4 to PS5, indicating that the development of Part 2 on PS5 should be a smoother process.

Sorting out the development environment on PS5 for FF7 Remake Intergrade, meant that moving on to developing the sequel was much smoother,” revealed Nomura.
