Final Fantasy fans are hoping another classic game from the Square Enix RPG series is getting remastered, and it might be announced soon.
Later today, Square Enix is hosting a special livestream that will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7 since its launch on the original PlayStation in 1997.
The game in question is the spin-off to FF7, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 which launched for the handheld PSP in Japan in 2007 before coming to western audiences in 2008. The reason fans believe that a remaster of Crisis Core is about to be announced is thanks to industry leaker, The Snitch.
Could Zack Fair return? – final fantasy 7 crisis core
The Snitch, who last week corrected leaked that The Last of Us remake would be revealed at Summer Game Fest, tweeted a teasing cropped image of Zack Fair, the protagonist of Crisis Core.
Furthermore, the tweet that featured the cropped image also included four coloured squares, blue, green, red, and black. Of course, these squares could mean nothing. However, those colours are typically associated with PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and PC, respectively.
Crisis Core is a prequel to FF7
If this rumoured arrival of Crisis Core is coming to the Nintendo Switch, I would rule out an FF7-style remake. That being said, I’m sure returning and new fans alike would appreciate being able to play the prequel to Final Fantasy 7 on modern systems.
Thankfully, the 25th-anniversary livestream for Final Fantasy 7 is taking place later today. Hopefully, not only could the Crisis Core remaster be confirmed but could we finally see the second part of the FF7 remake revealed? Only time will tell.

The 25th-anniversary livestream will premiere at 3pm PDT/6pm EDT/11pm UK time. You will be able to watch the show via Square Enix’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.
